I am enjoying the pics! I am glad that you got the opportunity to shoot Soulstock! I bet it was a great experience. Hey, I had a quick question. Are you shooting in RAW? Also, are you uploading your pics at a compressed resolution/size? If so, what size? I have been tinkering with some photos and haven't come up with the best resolution yet. One more, how much memory did you use? Anyway. Just curious. I always like to hear what other photographers are shooting. The guy I did a wedding with a couple weeks ago shoots only RAW, and well, he went off and in 5 hours shot 17GB worth of photos! I was like, are you kidding me? Well, I need to go, and need more memory it seems. Check back with you later.

hey andy, thanks for the compliment! ok i'll get right on that adress...thanks!

timmy,
hey man, i appreciate the compliment yeah it was a great experience, it was fun going around and everyone kinda letting me do whatever wherever. Naw man i would know the slightest in shooting straight RAW, i have been shooting them in JPEG, about the compressed resolution question...i have no idea haha, i just plug my camera up with my USB cord and let the computer do the rest, explain the importance of that for me, please. On soulstock i only used about medium quality on all my pics so I took over 400 pictures and i ended up with about 500 MB of memory on all of them. My question abour RAW i tried shooting in RAW just messing around well it loaded them and all but I couldn't get any of them to open up in anything, I had to convert them to JPEG's before i could see them, how do you work with RAW? you tell me what you do or your friend does, i appreciate it...haha. Seventeen GB!!!! man that would take up about a quarter of my computer memory haha! Man he must have had some heavy duty memory cards! Alright thanks man for commenting i appreciate it. Can't wait to see some of your shots on your blog! holla at me later!

If you would like to see some pictures you have taken in RAW, you can use a couple of programs: Canon provides with their cameras @ purchase a program called DPP (Digital Photo Professional) which allows you to upload and work in RAW. Another really popular program is Capture One made by Phase One. There are two versions (like Photoshopt CS and Elements) with the cheaper version around $100 or so. If you google it, you can read the reviews on that. There are HUGE benefits with shooting in RAW, not the least of which is RGB manipulation and white balance adjustment. Once you have the picture the way you like it, you can convert it to JPEG, TIFF, or whatever. I am still learning about shooting in RAW, but already I have seen the usefulness of it. The only downside is that the pics are huge files (mine are about 10MB a pic!), so you have to make a decision about memory. I right now only have 3 1/2 GB of memory but am trying to move up to 5-6GB. If I shoot an evening or event, I will end up shooting about 1GB an hour. My friend shoots about 4GB an hour (he has at least 3 4GB cards I know). Yep, an external hard drive is a must. But also if you have a DVD burner, it is good to back up your RAW pics on a DVD and archive it. You can always retrieve it later and not have to worry about your computer's memory. Dude, I am learning a ton too, and I have still yet to touch the surface of learning how to take great shots. I have been privileged to have some close friends here who are great photographers. Other than Todd, I encourage you to check out my friend Dan's live journal blog (located on my sidebar) and scroll back to previous posts. He does no editing to his pics. What you see is what he shot. He is very creative and skilled. He just converted to digital and is looking to get a 20D. He has been schooling me on night shots and macro shots. Anyway. I am rambling. I need to go to bed. It's 6:15 a.m.! I have a lunch/breakfast meeting today @ 12! I will try to post some stuff with flickr as well when I get a chance. I just finished with classes today (yesterday). Take care and I will be checking in!

alright man, hope you got your rest, i'm just learning everything as I go, so if you don't mind just throw some stuff my way, like what your learning from Todd and stuff, i would love to take my camera to the limits and get some great shots. tonight was our first night of our GIC (Global Impact Conference) it was a fantastic night, forgot to take my camera but it was great. But yeah you can kinda coach me too at the same time you are getting coached and any other aspiring photographers can jump on in and learn too. Let's all just have a photographer party! :). awesome man glad to here your done with classes, there's no feeling like it to know your done and you got a break, at least for a bit. Get some rest man! haha. Talk to you later!
